Order Book

1 min read

An order book is a current list of all the open maker orders for an asset in a given market. The order book is usually public, allowing traders to see the orders in the market. The order book will change as traders add, remove, and execute orders on the market.

An order on the order book is defined by its: direction, quantity, and limit price. Order books can be used to preemptively assess the market impact of a potential order. Order books provide the same information as a depth chart, albeit in a different format.
