Prime Broker

1 min read

Prime brokers typically interact with hedge funds, providing custodial and financial services. Often, they act as the intermediary between the hedge fund and institutional investors or commercial banks.

The prime broker assists in securing margin funding and borrowing stocks and bonds. They also provide trade clearing and settlement services, and act as the custodian for the hedge funds assets. Hedge funds elect to utilize a prime broker because it simplifies their operations. Prime brokers charge a fee for their services.
