Cashu

1 min read

Cashu is a free and open-source implementation of the eCash protocol tailored specifically for Bitcoin. This protocol enables the creation of digital bearer tokens, which are stored directly on a user’s device, mirroring the properties of physical cash.

By using Cashu, developers can build applications such as wallets that enable private, secure, and anonymous transactions within the Bitcoin ecosystem. The core advantage of Cashu is its emphasis on privacy, drawing from David Chaum’s original concept of eCash, which allows users to conduct transactions without revealing their identity, akin to using physical cash in the digital realm.
