1. What made you decide to pursue a career in Bitcoin?

Growing up in Vietnam, it was common to see things denominated in millions and to have noticeable inflation (~30% inflation in 2009). It was only during my high school economics class where I realized this was not normal.

After this, it didn’t take long before I realized the need for non-government controlled money and happened to stumble into Bitcoin. I quickly discovered Bitcoin’s potential to become a global currency and change the system. My decision to pursue a career in Bitcoin was simple; I wanted to be part of that change.

2. What’s your role at River Financial?

I currently oversee the development and management of River’s client services operations. I also help out with product design and marketing from time to time.

3. What did you do before joining River?

Before River, I briefly interned at Digital Garage as a venture analyst where I conducted research on the fund’s Bitcoin investments. I am also in the process of finishing my undergraduate education at Babson College.

4. What projects or advancements do you think are most exciting in the Bitcoin space right now?

I am currently excited about the Lightning Network as a scaling and privacy solution for Bitcoin. Specifically, I’m interested in how to incentivize routing nodes from an economic perspective with a focus on capital efficiency and the node’s return on assets.

5. Where do you see Bitcoin in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see Bitcoin being an established asset that is deeply integrated with the world’s financial ecosystem. I believe that Bitcoin will also be recognized as a valid store of value for those who don’t have the privilege of a stable currency.

6. Describe Bitcoin in 5 words or less.

Digital gold.

7. What are some of your favorite hobbies or interests?

I enjoy playing chess, speedcubing, going to the gym, and orchestrating extremely elaborate pranks.
